Intel® Unite™ v2

  • What is new?

The following new features were added in the Client SW for Intel® Unite™ version 2

Intel® Unite™ New Features

Application sharing

A user will be able to select which application window to display on the Intel Unite hub.  A presenter can keep the rest of their screen private, even if an application covers the content window being shared.

Extended display

Intel Unite will take advantage of multiple monitors, allowing you to share your secondary display.  If you do not have a second display, Intel Unite will enable you to create a virtual extended display.  This allows you to extend or duplicate your primary monitor.

Auto disconnect

This feature will help the user by making intelligent decisions on when to auto-disconnect.  In this version, a user will be automatically disconnected on laptop close and power button press

  • Installing the new version

New Deployments (1st time install)

If you are installing Intel® Unite™ for the first time, you need to install the SW for all components (Server (if Enterprise Mode), Hub and Client)

If you have already Intel® Unite™ v1 installed, and would like to upgrade to v2, the only component needed to be updated is the Client (PC application).

Extended Display

If you present an extended display, virtual or physical, place the Intel Unite application on the extended display, then disconnect the extended display, the Intel Unite user interface will not detect the disconnected monitor and the user interface will still show “Stop Presenting”.

Do not place the Intel Unite application window on an extended display and then disconnect the monitor.

Uninstall then Install

If you uninstall then re-install the Intel Unite 2.0 client application without a reboot the virtual extended display drivers will cause an error.

As a workaround, the user should reboot their PC after uninstall Intel Unite. A prompt to reboot will be added.

Repair Installation for Standalone or upgrade for Standalone Client

If you have the Intel Unite client app installed in Standalone mode, then attempt to repair using the installer or Control Panel->Programs And Features, the repair will be successful, but the app will be set to Enterprise mode.

To work around you can modify serverconfig.xml and change “<RunMode>Enterprise</RunMode>” to “<RunMode>StandAlone>/RunMode>”. You can also uninstall/reinstall to repair your installation.
